Our annual Scholar Retreats began in 2004 by Scholar request.  New and current Scholars found th at they develop camaraderie through outdoor research and education experiences at annual Scholar Retreats. Historically, Scholars have gone to the TTU Center at Junction, TX, for field experience. Excellent hands-on experiences at Junction led Scholars to request additional retreats to the Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area and to Roaring Springs, TX. A regional biodiversity discussion and several herpetology field sessions are part of the Mason Mountain experience; Roaring Springs is an overnight camping trip to further Scholar camaraderie.
